Communication Designing Courses at SID

The goal of the Communication Design (CD) program is to keenly develop an understanding and mastery of communication design principles, theories, and skills. We define communication design in broad terms, ranging from printed work to interactive displays, all in the service of informing, educating, and delighting people. The CD program teaches a problem-solving approach to communication, with a special concern for the people affected by any designed communication.

Communication Design is a 6 semester professional program for students who want to explore the new skills of communication and the creative potential of the interchange between words and images in traditional and innovative media.

The goal of the program is to prepare students for superior levels of professional employment as communication planners and designers in the areas of print communication, design planning, dynamic information design, interactive multimedia, and internet communication, Graphic Design, Video Film Design, Animation Film Design and finally User Experience Design.

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Communication Design

Self-expression must exceed into communication for its fulfillment.

Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing. There is more than a verbal tie between the words common, community, and communication. Try the experiment of communicating, with fullness and accuracy by composing the designer in you on any of the four electives that one gets to explore at this niche of Communication Design.

Scholars say Communication does not depend on syntax, or eloquence, or rhetoric, or articulation but on the emotional context in which the message is been received. At SID Communication explores the various languages of visual art in the areas of Graphics that enhances both the functional and the artistic means of Communication.

Graphics is taught in a broad variety of ways, each course teaching its own distinctive balance of craft skills and intellectual response to the client's needs.

Some graphics learning areas prioritize traditional craft skills, drawing, printmaking and typography over modern craft skills. Other areas may place an emphasis on teaching digital craft skills. To explore the two dimensional and the three dimensional world of reality and fantasy, Animation here refers to the learning of the classical process of developing high-quality traditionally animated films, which regularly use detailed drawings and plausible movement.

Learning non-conventional medium like a Computer animation also encompasses a variety of techniques, the unifying factor being that the animation is created digitally on a computer. To get acquainted with a planned integration of software design, business, and psychology, the concerns of user experience design can apply to the result of any interaction design.
