Industrial Design – Learn Product and Interior Design at SID

Industrial Design Discipline nurtures the creative mind through rigorous inputs in technology, thinking and conceptualizing abilities. Softer aspects to deal with people is also looked at and dealt with in the process. Industrial design Discipline trains designer students to be sensitive to people and solve their real time problems through a creative and analytical mind.

Simple Industrial Design, Technically Complex Product as well as Systems Design are major learning landmarks in the process. These courses teach working as individuals as well as working in a large team. Seven semesters learning at the institute is put to a real time test when the students take up the Degree project. All the learning at the institute is exposed to a field test through the Degree project.

Hand skills, Digital Skills, Visualization skills and Articulation skills are an integral part of the profession with keenness to learn and adapt to modern technology.

Focusing on physical products and environments, Industrial design designs a wide range of learning to deal with deal with a spacious spectrum of product concerns pertaining to appliances, lifestyle products, packaging design and transportation design. The candidate is enhanced with the knowledge of the user's needs and aspirations, resulting in all the insightful and effectual solutions.

Several of the projects taken up as a Design Programme address user needs for users from various age groups. Students experiment with materials and have access to sophisticated manufacturing facilities available at the workshop.

Industrial Designing is directed at the broad field of the process and Industrial design industry and aims to prepare the participants for leading functions in the field of Industrial design and product development.

Emphasis lies on amassing knowledge and practicing the skills in finding technical solutions for the design.

With the underlying goal of maximizing user experience, the program emphasizes both appearance and performance, and explores issues of material and form, manufacturing, interaction, embedded computing, and product life cycles.
