Dr. Saurabh Nautiyal

Dr. Saurabh Nautiyal is an Assistant Professor in the User Experience Design Department at Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune. He holds a Ph.D. in Design from the Department of Design, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam. His doctoral research focused on enhancing the usability and accessibility of smartphone-based healthcare applications for older adults, using a Human-Centred Design approach to address the unique needs, limitations, and expectations of ageing users in India.

Prior to joining the full-time PhD program, he has worked as a Junior Research Fellow at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, Punjab, where he contributed to a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India (MeitY), Govt. of India, sponsored research and development project.

As a researcher, Dr. Saurabh actively participates in and presented his work at reputable international conferences and workshops. He has also published research articles in reputed scientific journals and holds two granted Indian patents. He also holds an M.Tech. in Electronics Product Design & Technology from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali, Punjab and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Dr. Saurabh's research interests include Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience (UX) Design, Inclusive and Accessible design, and Electronics Product Design. He is particularly interested in developing practical, human-centred design solutions that enhance the safety, independence, and healthcare needs of the ageing population by effectively integrating design and technology.

Dr. Saurabh is also keen to contribute to design education through research-led teaching, mentoring, and interdisciplinary learning. He aims to support students in developing design thinking, research, and problem-solving skills, encouraging them to be thoughtful designers who justify their design decisions, work ethically, and empathise with diverse user needs.
