Dr. Pranita Ranade holds a PhD in Arts and Fine Arts (Indology), an MA in Indology, a Diploma in Computer Management, a Diploma in Interior & Space Design, and a B.Sc. Her academic background spans over three decades and is complemented by extensive experience in design. She spent 17 years in Mumbai's advertising, multimedia, and printing industries, specialising in digital design. Renowned for her expertise, Dr. Ranade has trained numerous professionals in these sectors. For the past 17 years, Dr. Ranade has been a faculty member at the Symbiosis Institute of Design, where she leads the 'User Experience Design' department. Her approach emphasises creating a supportive learning environment that helps students achieve their goals.
Dr. Ranade's areas of expertise and research interests encompass a broad spectrum, including User Experience, Interface Design, Design Thinking, Layout and Composition Design, System Design, Service Design, etc. Notably, her deep appreciation for the meaningful design history of India, explored through 'Indology,' profoundly influences her teaching methodology, intertwining 'Society, Culture and Design' to guide students in their projects.
Dr. Ranade is also an active researcher, consistently publishing papers and presenting at international and national conferences. Her broad research interests include Design “History of India”, "user-centred design" for enhancing users' lives, practical applications that directly benefit people, and "well-being research". Furthermore, as a Dy Director, Dr. Ranade is committed to systematically managing academic activities, fostering a supportive environment within her team, and inspiring students and colleagues to uphold the highest teaching, research, and administration standards.
