Mock test is not mandatory but highly recommended as it helps candidates to understand the questions, plan their time and understand the exam portal.

The candidates are not required to go to any exam centre for appearing SEED. They can give it from the comfort of their home. It is an online proctored exam and needs laptop with stable internet connectivity and camera.

The eye movements and body language of the candidate is monitored through the proctored camera. In case of candidates cheating, they are disqualified from the SEED. It is advisable to sit alone in the exam room without anybody else visible or moving in the camera.

No. Appearing for SEED is mandatory step for admission to SID.

No. SID has their own exam SEED, which is mandatory to appear for admission. Other entrance exams scores are not considered.

No. There is no negative marking in SEED. However, candidates are expected to appear for 60 questions for 60 marks.

The SEED cut-off depends on the performance of students and the number of applications in that particular year.

SEED is an MCQ-based exam. It displays one question with 4 answer options. The candidate has to click on the right answer for attempting the exam.

The SID SEED is generally conducted on a second Sunday of January.

No. The candidates do not have to travel to SID campus in Pune for SEED. It has to be appeared online and can be given from home.

You will have to click pictures of best work, compile it in a PPT and upload the PDF format on the given link. You cannot show your portfolio during PI as it is compulsory to upload it before your slot for interaction.

Portfolio Review allows applicants to their originality, creative journey, and design thinking. It enables the panel to understand your potential, interests, and approach to solving design problems. 

Quality is more important than quantity. Include a selection of your strongest and most meaningful projects that best represent your creativity, skills, and design potential. Include mix media artworks exploring different concepts and skills.

The portfolio needs to reflect originality, creativity, and your thought process more than polished presentation or expensive software. Compilation of artworks neatly is important. 4px;"> 

Yes. School and college assignments, if they demonstrate creativity, research, innovation, or problem-solving, can be valuable additions to your portfolio. If you opted for fine arts or design thinking then include them too.  

No. It is important to include mix media artworks showcasing hand skills such as sketching, drawing and use of various color mediums. Digital artworks can be included if the candidate creates art using digital tools.  

 Yes. You can submit poetry, stories, comic strip and other artworks that reflect your passion, curiosity, and initiative, making them an important part of your portfolio.

 Yes. Photography that demonstrates composition, storytelling, observation, or visual communication can strengthen your portfolio.

Yes. Handmade models, sculptures, crafts, prototypes, textile explorations, or other physical creations showcase your creativity and hands-on skills.

Digital illustrations, graphic design, animation, motion graphics, UI concepts, and other digital creative work may be included wherever relevant.

Yes. Video links can be given in the portfolio. The expert panel reviewing your portfolio will check the link for your work.

AI-assisted work may be included if it forms part of your creative process. Applicants should clearly explain their role in developing the concept, refining ideas, and making design decisions, as originality and ethical use of AI are important. Mention names of tools used and for what process.

Yes. Showing your research, ideation, iterations, and final outcomes helps the panel understand how you think and solve problems.

The design process is often as important as the final outcome because it demonstrates creativity, critical thinking, experimentation, and learning

A clear, well-structured portfolio that is easy to navigate and tells a coherent story about your creative journey is recommended. A digital portfolio of maximum 15 pages is required.

Yes. Creative work completed during competitions, workshops, online courses, or community projects can enrich your portfolio.

The portfolio PDF should be under 5MB size. Do not compress the portfolio as the artworks may become blurred.

Candidates copy artworks from Pinterest or other readily available portfolios online. Also, many times candidates copy work of famous artists and designers and cite as their own. Here the solution is to create original artworks and also give due credits to the original artist and designer.

A clear portfolio making guideline will be shared with the registered SEED candidates so they can follow the instructions and create the portfolio as per the institute’s requirements.

Yes. SID will send a comprehensive portfolio making guidelines document once the candidate is registered for SEED. Attending informational webinars organized by the institute at regular intervals during the admission season will surely help you to understand the process and expectations of the institute.

Personal Interaction (PI) is an opportunity for applicants to interact with the faculty panel. It helps assess your motivation to pursue design, communication skills, creative thinking, curiosity, and overall suitability for design education.

The Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction rounds are generally in the month of March or April. It is conducted post board exams.

The PI enables the panel to understand you beyond your examination scores and portfolio. It provides insights into your personality, thought process, aspirations, and enthusiasm for learning design.

There is no short term / distance course offered by SID. SID presently offers only full time Under- Graduate degree courses.
