SID’s Placement Cell organizes regular workshops on career counselling, entrepreneurship, interview techniques and career strength for all final year students. Soft skills training like resume writing, interview techniques and portfolio making courses are an integral part of the curriculum. The Alumni Cell of the institute also organizes expert lectures delivered by our alumni who are all successful design professionals; for enhancing the employability of our students.

The keynote speaker for one such Placement Orientation session was Mr. Abhimanyu Kulkarni, a distinguished IIT Industrial Design alumnus, award-winning cartoonist, and screenwriter. Bringing three decades of global experience from Philips Design, Mr. Kulkarni currently serves as the Head of Strategic Initiatives, Research, and Client Product Programmes at Futuring Design. During the interactive session, Mr. Kulkarni provided students with valuable industry insights into corporate dynamics and expectations. The orientation comprehensively covered essential career-readiness topics, including strategic portfolio building, critical interview do's and don'ts, and essential soft skills development to prepare students for the professional design landscape.

In another Career Guidance session, Mr. Atul Manohar, an esteemed leader in UX design, product innovation, and digital transformation provided actionable guidance on several critical professional milestones, including Portfolio Building, Entrepreneurship, Recruitment & Interviews, Career Growth. With over 20 years of experience in the design industry, Mr. Manohar has worked with leading global companies like Informatica and is also the co-founder of Thought-Craft. During the session, Mr. Manohar shared invaluable insights regarding current industry trends, design thinking methodologies, and emerging career opportunities. He mapped out multiple expanding domains within the design industry where students can build future careers. The workshop was highly interactive, with students actively participating, asking questions, and engaging with the speaker throughout the session.

Another placement orientation session featured distinguished alumnus Mr. Aaroh Dhaundiyal, a designer and design studio founder. Aaroh guided the students on essential career aspects, including portfolio building, entrepreneurship, interview techniques, and career opportunities in the design field. The highly interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from the students.
