Master of Design (M. Des)
Having established strong industry credentials as a cradle of exceptional graduate designers, SID is now launching its Master of Design (M. Des) in the field of User Experience Design. This programme is a two years duration, 80 credits post-graduate degree offered by SID and the degree is awarded by the Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune; established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 vide notification No. 9-12/2001-U.3 dated 10th November 2006 of UGC, Government of India.
This programme is aimed for:
- Those seeking professional knowledge in the planning and design of new communications, products, services, environments and systems.
- Those focused on observing and understanding users in specific contexts, analyzing complex information, developing and exploring alternative solutions, and prototyping future innovations.
- Those wishing to acquire integrated and interdisciplinary design education in the domain of UX/UI.
- This programme is also suitable for working professionals wishing to enter the field of UX and UI provided they meet the eligibility conditions.
Mode of Programme Delivery:
Being focused on working professionals and young designers who wish to enter the field of UX/UI, classes for the M.Des programme shall be held in a hybrid mode – both online and offline. Some classes and faculty interactions shall be scheduled over weekends and also in the evenings.
Programme Highlights:
- The first semester of the programme covers a recap of basic design principles, knowledge and skills. Students shall be able to choose an elective of their choice in the area of Innovation and UX/UI followed by their first project.
- The second semester empowers the learners with skills and knowledge in domains like psychology, interaction design and prototyping followed by projects in the areas of information and affordance and user centered research and design.
- Bringing research to the fore, the third semester focuses on methods of usability testing, writing of research papers, electives in the field of user experience and a self-led project aligned with user research and prototyping.
- The final semester is entirely devoted to the application of hereto learned skills and knowledge into a self-initiated or industry-based project oriented to addressing real world challenges in the field of user experience design.

On completion of the M.Des programme, you can kickstart your career as an Interface Designer, UX Architect, UX Designer, Web Designer, Mobile Application Interface Designer, Game Designer, Interaction Designer, Service Designer and so on.
Supported by SID’s robust industry interaction cell, several companies like TCS, Deloitte, PWC, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, Accenture, Siemens and Capgemini have already been onboarded. for internships, industry-led projects and placements.
