Krishna Kumar

Assistant Professor
Department : User Experience Design

Krishna Kumar’s journey into design is driven by a deep curiosity about human behavior, decision-making, and the way people engage with digital systems. As an Assistant Professor in User Experience Design, he brings this curiosity into the classroom, encouraging students to move beyond assumptions and design with clarity, intent, and empathy.

With an academic foundation that blends design and humanities, his approach to UX is rooted in balancing research, strategy, and execution. His teaching spans design research and analytics, iteration and strategy, interaction design, and information architecture, along with usability, accessibility, and agile methodologies. He places strong emphasis on the end-to-end design process—guiding learners through wireframing, prototyping, interface design, and data-driven decision-making.

Having taught both undergraduate (B.Des) and postgraduate (M.Des) programs, he mentors students through real-world problem solving, helping them translate insights into meaningful user experiences. His pedagogy also integrates areas such as design psychology, UX writing and microcopy, visual design, storytelling, and collaboration—enabling students to develop both analytical depth and creative confidence.

Alongside academics, his experience in UX/UI design allows him to bring practical industry relevance into the learning environment. He consistently works towards bridging the gap between academic frameworks and industry expectations, ensuring students are equipped with skills that are both current and applicable.

He strongly believes that when you are designing, you are not the user. This philosophy drives his emphasis on research, testing, and continuous iteration, encouraging learners to step outside their assumptions and truly understand the people they design for.

At present, he is actively involved in teaching User Experience Design across B.Des and M.Des programs, contributing through mentoring, evaluation, and fostering a research-oriented and practice-driven design culture.
