Interior Space Design

The Interior Space Design specialization combines multiple learnings starting from concept development, planning of space, inspection of space & site, understanding materials and construction science to the execution of the space design.

Students are able to design spaces & integrate harmony between type of space and materials to be used to design the same. Design is created keeping in mind architecture, technology, material & ergonomics.

With the use of various design software, students are guided to design conceptual as well as specific spaces such as residential & commercial spaces, furniture design, exhibition & retail spaces. Study of materials, lighting, décor, furniture, prototyping, and graphics forms an integral part of Interior Space Design.

The project envisions transforming underutilized spaces beneath flyovers into dynamic, inclusive, and vibrant public environments. By introducing clearly defined zones for social interaction, recreation, play, and food, it reclaims neglected urban voids and converts them into safe, engaging, and functional spaces for pedestrians and the surrounding community. Addressing key urban challenges such as safety concerns, waste dumping, lack of public infrastructure, and inactive edges, the design aims to create a sense of ownership and belonging. It caters to a diverse user group—including daily commuters, office workers, local residents, and underprivileged communities—ensuring accessibility and usability for all.

The lighting system involves 3 different modules that can be placed in the form of a totem according to the user and is available as a floor lamp, pendant lamp, and table lamp configuration. The system uses a bayonet mechanism which uses pogo pins to provide power supply to the next module. The lighting system also includes IoT features enabling users to control the the light from their phone, allowing for a more personalised and interactive experience.
